Know your Millets
“Small but mighty: discover the power of millets.”
As part of the UN’s celebrations of the international year of Millets to draw attention to lesser known crops globally, Army Public School Kirkee conducted ‘Know your Millets’ campaign for Classes VI – VIII, on Monday 31st August 2023. It was a mass participation. All students of the above mentioned classes used banners, pictures, posters, slogans, etc to create awareness and recognize millets grown and used in various parts of India.
The Social Science faculty of the school organized the campaign successfully.

“Let’s make APS Kirkee a plastic free zone”

International Plastic Bag Free Day on 3rd July
The students of APS Kirkee observed International Plastic Bag Free Day on 3rd July 2023 in school campus. The students of class 6 to 8 took initiative and prepared placards, usable jute bags, paper bags under the guidance of Science teachers. They also came up with the various ideas to make it more innovative and successful event.
The volunteered students from class VI to XII took part in different activities under guidance of Principal ma’am, science and art teachers. The students made recyclable news paper bags to promote the use of cloth and paper bags and to stop use of poly bags. The students marched through the school corridors with banners to create awareness about plastic pollution and banning of single use plastics. The students picked up plastic waste from the school campus to motivate others to refrain themselves from use of single use plastics and polybags to stop environmental hazards. The students put beautiful display boards in the porch to convey their message on “Beat plastic pollution to save the planet”.
The effort of the students will definitely be able to reach their motto to make APS Kirkee a plastic free zone.
MERI MATI MERA DESH
Army Public School Kirkee organised Prabhat Pheri in commemoration of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav which celebrates India’s Independence since 1947. The event was held as part of Meri Maati Mera Desh programme.
The rally of hundreds of students from Classes 6 to 10, led by their teachers, was a colourful sight to behold. A vibrant scene unfolded on the streets when the March began and continued to tread for more than 3 kms. The students and their teachers progressed in unison inside the Army campus of B. E. G & Centre, holding aloft *_The Tiranga_* as well as the banners that displayed slogans related to India’s pride, freedom and its brave hearts. The air resounded with the Panch Pran pledge.
The Dhol and Nagadas as well as the patriotic songs rendered by the deep and melodious voices of the music teachers and the choir infused the spirit of patriotic fervour among the people of the neighbourhood.
The event was a great success as the lively enthusiasm on every participant’s face spoke about how proud they were of the martyrs, of the nation and of their own birth in such a glorious nation.
The event culminated as the procession converged at the School gate and the students went to their respective classes with pride in their hearts.

INTER HOUSE PATRIOTIC SONG COMPETITION
“Patriotism is your conviction that this country is superior to all others because you were born in it”. The patriotic singing competition showcases our love and respect for our motherland. It expresses our devotion and inculcates reverence for our country blended with a sense of fulfillment and responsibility toward our country.
An Inter-House Patriotic Song Competition was organized at APS, Kirkee on August 12, 2023. A platform was given to the students to imbibe a sense of devotion towards our motherland. Patriotic songs demonstrated their love for the country. The themes chosen were to glorify sacrifice, land’s beauty, history, and martyrdom. It was a group activity comprising fifteen to twenty students. The musical instruments were also being used by the participants. The participants put forth their enthralling performances and made the event a massive success. All the budding singers, through their melodious voices evoked the feeling of patriotism.
